Monthly sales volume of light vehicles in Mexico 2019-2023
The number of light vehicles sold in Mexico dropped below 35,000 units in April 2020, a decline of more than 64.5 percent compared to the sales volume reported during the same month a year earlier. The severe slowdown in automobile demand is related to the health emergency declared by the Mexican government at the end of March 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since then, light vehicle sales in the country increased. In August 2023, nearly 113,900 units were sold, which represented a growth of 23.8 percent compared to August 2022.
