India accounted for over 18.6 thousand known species of angiosperms in 2019. This was an increased compared to 2013. Angiosperms are essentially flowering plants. Of these, over four thousand were endemic species, while over a thousand were categorized as threatened in the country. India totaled over 49 thousand known plant species compared to the world's over four million.
