According to the source, Amazon Prime Video launched 314 hours of original first-run content worldwide in 2019. Whilst this marks an increase from the 285 hours recorded in 2017, competitor Netflix produced over 2,500 hours in 2019 and released 371 original titles over the course of the year. The disparity between the two platforms in this regard is however more logical when taking into account that Amazon's predominant focus is retail, whereas Netflix is the SVoD market leader making its mark on Hollywood.
