Approximately 90 percent of the respondents said they purchased either a product or a service from online retailer Bol.com. Chinese marketplace Aliexpress was also popular in the Netherlands, with 40 percent of the respondents indicating they used it.
Bol.com is a Dutch online marketplace and the leading webshop in the Netherlands for books, toys and electronics. The platform is also active in Belgium. Between 2013 and 2016, Bol.com's revenue increased every year. By 2016, the company had a revenue of approximately 1.2 billion euros.
