In 2021, the number of maritime accidents in Turkey amounted to 291. This represents a 58 percent decrease compared to the previous year, when maritime accidents peaked at 690. Recently, the density of marine traffic has reached high levels, which is one of the main reasons for accidents in the Turkish Seas.
