There were over 816 thousand SMEs reported in Romania in 2023. Micro-sized enterprises that employ up to only nine people make up the majority of SMEs, with approximately 772 thousand of them as of 2023. The value added by micro-sized enterprises totaled approximately 29.7 billion euros in the same year.
