In 2023, there were 62 micrograms of PM2.5 particles per cubic meter found in the air in northern Thailand, on average. The air quality in the north is likely to have got worse compared to previous years.

Supplementary notes
Particulate matter (PM) is a mixture of solid and liquid particle that is suspended in the air. PM2.5 are fine particles with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometers (more than 100 times thinner than a human hair) and remain suspended for a longer period in the air. Fine particles are also harmful to the lungs, causing asthma and worsening health conditions such as heart disease and arthritis.
