This statistic shows the results of a 2016 survey which asked respondents in Spain how their startups were initially founded. Of respondents, 53.7 percent advised that their startup began as an independent venture, the majority in this statistic. Spain also has 36.8 percent of respondents who said their startups had foundations other than in a university, research institution, existing company or venture foundation.
