In the Netherlands, desktop virtualization saw an increase among public institutions and businesses within the financial sector. The source adds that over 60 percent of the inventoried solutions for virtual desktops involved a Citrix application, especially among multinationals. VMware was mostly used among institutions in the public sector, with Microsoft seeing use mainly among medium-sized enterprises (50-250 employees).
