Latin America: venture capital deals 2020, by country
Six Latin American countries concentrated nearly all venture capital (VC) deals closed in 2020. Brazil led the market with nearly six out of 10 VC transactions. Mexico ranked second with more than 19 percent of the investment agreements. Chile, Colombia, Argentina, and Peru followed with less than 10 percent each. Venture capital investments are targeted to companies that show potential for long-term growth.

Latin America is home to 16 unicorns, less than six percent of those located in North America or Asia-Pacific. Not surprisingly, Brazil contains nearly two thirds of the region’s unicorns, placing it among the top 10 countries worldwide.
