In the Netherlands, the use of Facebook for news decreased between 2017 and 2022, with under 30 percent of respondents to an annual survey using the platform for news in 2023. Meanwhile, the use of Instagram increased from four percent to 11 percent in the same time frame. As of 2021, the number of Facebook users in the Netherlands reached a number of approximately 10 million.
