In the Netherlands, the use of Facebook for news decreased between 2017 and 2024, with under 25 percent of respondents to an annual survey using the platform for news in 2024. Meanwhile, the use of Instagram increased from 11 percent to 13 percent in the same time frame. As of 2021, the number of Facebook users in the Netherlands reached a number of approximately 10 million.
