In 2016, the Peruvian supermarket chain Supermercados Peruanos opened 42 stores in Lima and managed a total of 165 stores throughout the country. The Peruvian supermarket by far outnumbers its Chilean competitor supermarkets CENCOSUD and Tottus.

Supermercados Peruanos is of Peruvian ownership. The types of outlets managed are the chains Viivanda, Plaza Vea, Plaza Vea Super and Mass. CENCOSUD is of Chilean ownership with the outlets Wong and Metro. Tottus is of Chilean ownership as well and its chains are Tottus and Hiperbodega Precio Uno.
