Monthly sales volume of Tata Nexon India 2020-2024
Tata Motors was established in 1945 under the Tata Group. In 2018, the company had the highest share in the commercial vehicles market. It covers all major vehicle segments such as cars, utility vehicles, trucks and buses. The sales volume of Tata Nexon, a sub-compact crossover SUV, was over 12.2 thousand units in August 2024. The company also created a separate vertical to tap into the electric vehicles market. Tata’s Punch model was among the best-selling cars in the country.
Nexon’s competitors
The model was expected to be a game changer for Tata Motors. However, the segment is crowded with a range of subcompact SUVs. Even crossovers such as Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta and i20 variants and Mahindra’s TUV300 stand as rivals. Buyers leaned towards the Vitara Brezza though, making it the best-selling subcompact SUV during this time period.
The Indian automotive industry
The Indian automobile industry became the fourth largest in the world in 2017. More than 2.7 million passenger cars were sold across the south Asian country in 2020. The passenger vehicles, however, make up a very small portion of the vehicle segment as the industry is dominated by two-wheelers. Amongst the passenger vehicles, the market was dominated by Maruti Suzuki.
