In 2023, smoking was much more common among men than women in Italy. In fact, smokers accounted for 23.1 percent of the male population over 14 years of age, while 15.7 percent of female individuals in the same age group were regular smokers. Overall, 19.3 percent of the Italian population older than 14 years smoked in 2023. This figure shows the share of smokers in Italy in 2023, by gender.
