The number point of sale (POS) transactions in Bulgaria between 2012 to 2023 increased annually through this period. In 2012, the number of point of sale transactions amounted to approximately 31.3 million and the number of POS transactions had increased to 343.57 million transactions by 2023.
Between 2014 and 2021, the use of cash money has become less common. However, in 2021, it still accounted for 78.4 percent of all payments.
