Over time, the number of ATM cash withdrawals in Greece from 2000 to 2023 generally increased, but plummeted since 2020. In 2019, the number of ATM cash withdrawals amounted to approximately 228.95 million. In 2023, it decreased to 129.82 million withdrawals. At the same time, cash use in Greece has become much less popular. Nevertheless, cash payments at point of sale (POS) accounted for 75.2 percent of all payments in 2019.
