This statistic shows the proportion of German adults who had eaten meals prepared outside the home in the 7 days prior to being interviewed between 2008 and 2017. The results are broken down by meals or snacks eaten on the premises of a pub, restaurant or cafe, takeaway meals eaten off premises and meals or snacks delivered to the home. Of respondents, 27 percent had eaten takeaway meals off the premises where they were prepared in 2017 and 17 percent had meals delivered to their home.

* Respondents were asked: "In the last 7 days, that is since last...(day of interview), how many of these types of meals, if any, have you eaten? By this I mean main meals, light meals or snacks, excluding meals eaten in canteens and meals prepared at home or taken from your home."
