Citizens opinion about private hospitals inclusion in the NHS in Italy 2018
A survey conducted in 2018 investigated what Italian citizens thought about the inclusion of private hospitals in the framework of the National Healthcare Service. According to survey data, 50 percent of the respondents were willing to have private facilities included in the framework of the NHS, so that they would have more chances to get an appointment with the professional or in the facility they trusted the most. In addition, 35 percent of the interviewees declared that including private hospitals in the NHS would give the citizens freedom of choice and that is, according to them, an important value also in the healthcare sector. Lastly, nine percent of Italian citizens declared to want only public hospitals to be part of the NHS.
