Italy: citizens awareness about environmental issues 2017
The Italian population seems to be quite aware of environmental issues. During a survey conducted among Italians in 2017, more than one third of the respondents declared to be very worried about environmental risks such as pollution, the ozone hole and danger for the planet. In addition, 43 percent of interviewees stated to feel quite worried about these problems.
Environmentally friendly behavior
The most popular environmentally friendly habit among Italians pertained to waste management. In 2018, 58 percent of Italians declared to sort waste. Also, energy saving measures were quite common among Italians. As a matter of fact, 42 percent of them stated to limit their water and energy consumption. Moreover, waste sorting and energy and water saving were the environmental topics Italians felt the most informed and committed about in 2018.
Concern about non-recyclable products
The commitment of Italians towards sustainable waste management was also confirmed by the fact that in 2018, Italy was one of the European countries with the greatest share of people concerned about the use of disposable, non-recyclable products, such as plastic items.
