Indian print publications saw an average 36 percent decline in terms of volume in 2020. The steepest of these were publications in Urdu, Telugu and Oriya. Relatively fairing better in the fall were Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi publications that year. This was largely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its affects on circulation, especially in metros across the country.
