This statistic shows the share of Canadians who agree that marriage is a more genuine commitment than a common-law relationship as of January 2018. The findings show that 57 percent of responding Canadian adults said that they either strongly or somewhat agreed that marriage is a more genuine form of commitment, compared to 39 percent who disagreed with this statement.
