This data does not include numbers registered in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Figures for earlier years have been taken from previous publications. The Chinese health authorities calculate death cases for infectious diseases in a different method than most other countries, counting only patients who died directly from the infectious disease.
Since 2022, the numbers are only published monthly by the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration. The annual numbers are calculated by Statista.
