Included in the e-commerce market segment "Groceries & Drugstores" are food and beverages (excluding baby food), as well as drugstore, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products (including prescription medicines) for private end-users (B2C). In addition to medicines and cosmetics / personal care products, medical devices for private use (eg sphygmomanometers, disinfection, dressings) are considered. The e-commerce market involves the sale of physical goods via a digital channel to private end users (B2C). Moreover, the market consists of both flows of purchases over desktop computers (including notebooks or laptops) as well as purchases via mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets. Not included are digitally distributed services (see: eServices), digital media content as a download or stream, digitally distributed goods in B2B markets, as well as the digital purchase or resale of used, defective or repaired goods (re-commerce and C2C). All monetary values refer to net sales, shipping costs are not taken into account.
