In 2023, Spain was the leading outbound travel market for Italy based on travel spending. That year, the expenditure of outbound Italian visitors in Spain amounted to roughly 3.4 billion euros, increasing sharply over the previous year. The United States and France followed in the ranking in 2023, with spending of Italian travelers reaching around 3.2 billion and 2.5 billion euros, respectively.
