Largest banks in Latin America 2022, by total assets
The five largest banks based on total assets in Latin America were all Brazilian banks in 2022. Itaú Unibanco led the ranking, with total assets exceeding 439 billion U.S. dollars. Banco do Brasil and Banco Bradesco followed, with 379.8 and 340.4 billion U.S. dollars worth of assets, respectively. The largest non-Brazilian bank in Latin America was the Mexican Grupo Financiero BBVA, with total assets of 158.31 billion U.S. dollars.
