Largest banks in Latin America 2023, by total assets
In 2023, the five largest banks in Latin America based on total assets were all Brazilian. Itaú Unibanco led the ranking, with assets exceeding 555 billion U.S. dollars. Banco do Brasil and Banco Bradesco followed, with 447.72 billion U.S. dollars and 394.76 billion U.S. dollars in assets, respectively. The largest non-Brazilian bank in the Latin American region was Mexico's Grupo Financiero BBVA, with total assets of 197.29 billion U.S. dollars.
