This statistic displays the share of knife possession offences, resulting in a custodial sentence of over three months and up to and including six months in England and Wales from October 2010 to September 2017. Whilst the share of custodial sentences fluctuated during the period observed, the trend was generally one of increase. In 2010, 31 percent of knife possessions resulted in a custodial sentence of three to six months, by 2017 this had increased to 41 percent.
