This statistic displays the share of knife possession offences, resulting in a custodial sentence of up to and including three months in England and Wales from October 2010 to September 2017. Whilst the share custodial sentences fluctuated during the period observed, the trend was generally one of decrease. In 2010, 38 percent of knife possession offences resulted in a sentence of up to three months, by 2017 this had decreased to 21 percent.
