This statistic displays the number of knife possession offences resulting in a fine in England and Wales from 2010 to 2017. During this period the number of knife possession charges that resulted in fine generally decreased. In 2010 the number of fines amounted to 876, it declined thereafter until it reached a low of 667 in 2016. However in the latest period there has been a rise in the number of offences resulting in a fine to 701, 34 more than the previous year.

**On 3rd December 2012 offences involving threatening with a knife or offensive weapon in a public place or in a school premises was introduced and are included in the figures from this point on.
