Between 2005 and 2019, the rate of assisted reproduction treatments (ART) undertaken in Italy increased constantly. By 2019, this figure reached roughly 7.7 thousand. However, in 2020 this figure decreased for the first time amounting to 6,525 ART per one million women. In 2021, this figure increased again reaching almost 9.1 thousand treatments per one million of women.
Child-bearing age is here defined as women aged 15 to 45 years.
