This statistic illustrates the distribution by age group of trips taken by public transport by the Italian population in 2016. That year, about four in ten trips (41.8 percent) were made by people aged between 14 and 29, while people aged between 46 and 64 accounted for over 25 percent of public transport trips. By contrast, fewer than eight percent of public transport trips were made by the elderly.
