England had the largest number of build to rent (BTR) homes in the UK in 2024, with over 111,000 completed units in single-family and multifamily housing. Additionally, there were nearly 42,000 units under construction and 87,000 units in planning.
Build to rent refers to homes that are built specifically for renting rather than for sale. They differentiate from traditional rent homes with their focus on the provision of as services, i.e. professional on-site management, shared spaces, work zones, fitness centers.
