The COVID-19 pandemic had a huge impact on the sports industry in 2020 as many sporting events were canceled and entire leagues were suspended or postponed. During an August 2020 survey among sports industry leaders worldwide, only 1.2 percent of respondents stated that they sports industry was excellently prepared to face the COVID-19 crisis.
