In 2023, the biggest crude oil exporters to Italy were the African countries, namely Libya, Nigeria, and Algeria. These countries accounted for over 30 percent of the total crude oil imports to Italy. The former Soviet Union was the second-leading supplier of crude oil to Italy, at approximately 29 percent.
