Luxembourg has the highest share of biofuels in final renewable energy sources (RES) consumption in the European Union. In Luxembourg, biofuels used for transportation account for nearly 45 percent of total RES consumption. This is far more than in neighboring Germany and France where renewable energy is largely used to generate electricity or for heating and cooling.
