Luxembourg: consumer investing in cryptocurrencies, by investment size 2018

This statistic shows the distribution of consumers who invest in cryptocurrency in Luxembourg as of February 2018, by investment size. In early 2018, 20 percent of the respondents indicated they invested 500 euros or less in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and initial coin offerings (ICOs) reached the news quite often in 2017. Because of this, approximately 60 percent of the households in the Netherlands who invest in cryptocurrencies started doing so in 2017. Bitcoin is a digital currency that uses blockchain technology as a means of security. Because of its design, however, it is difficult to get an insight in the full size of the Bitcoin market in individual countries. In the first three quarters of 2017, there were approximately 44,000 trading transactions in Bitcoin in the Netherlands.
