Share of gross final energy consumption from renewable sources in Italy 2005-2022
In 2022, 19 percent of the gross final energy consumption in Italy derived from renewable sources. During the period of consideration, the share of energy from renewable sources climbed up from 7.5 percent in 2005. While both the Italian target of 17 percent of energy from renewables by 2020 and the European target of 20 percent were met, the share of renewable energy in Italy's gross final consumption decreased between 2020 and 2021.
