In 2019, Marlboro, a brand owned by the American company Philip Morris, was the leading brand of cigarettes in Mexico, with a market share of more than 50 percent. Pall Mall, owned by British American Tobacco followed, accounting for nearly 17 percent of the cigarette market in the Latin American country.
