European renewables consumption has continuously increased over the years, amounting to seven exajoules in 2018. Between 2025 and 2050, figures are forecasted to rise further and peak at 32 exajoules in 2045, in the net zero scenario. In 2050, renewables consumption in Europe is expected to reach 28 exajoules in the rapid scenario and 21 exajoules in the business-as-usual scenario.
