Territory of the United States of America since 1917, the U.S. Virgin Islands are an exotic group of islands located in the Caribbean Sea. According to the UNWTO, U.S. Virgin Islands received 862 thousand international tourist arrivals in 2020, showing a decline of roughly 58.4 percent. However, the volume of inbound tourism in this American territory was higher until 2016, when foreign visitor arrivals surpassed the 2.5 million each years.
