Single-use plastics beach litter in the European Union (EU-28) 2017, by type
This statistic displays the percentage of single-use plastics littering beaches in each of the four regional sea areas in the European Union (EU-28) as of 2017. The graph shows that cigarette butts were a common occurrence on EU beaches, making up 74 percent of plastics littler on beaches on the North Atlantic. Other plastics such as fragments, food packaging or nets and ropes were the most common litter on average throughout these regions.
