During an October 2019 survey regarding negative encounters on online dating platforms, 42 percent of online dating users in the U.S. aged 18 to 34 years stated that they had received a sexually explicit message or image they did not ask for. In contrast, only 22 percent of respondents aged 50 years and above stated the same.
