In 2023, the unemployment rate in Yemen remained nearly unchanged at around 17.53 percent. Still, 2023 marked the second consecutive decline of the unemployment rate. The unemployment rate refers to the share of the workforce that is currently not working but is actively searching for work. It does not include the economically inactive population, such as the long-term unemployed, those aged under 15 years, or retired persons.
