In 2022, almost 777 thousand patients were treated in mental health departments in Italy. This statistic breaks this figure down by region where the hospitals were located. According to the data, Lombardy was the region with the highest number of individuals treated for mental problems, with 138 thousand, followed by Emilia-Romagna and Veneto, with 78.4 thousand and 69.8 thousand, respectively.
