In 2022, the number of employees in the production of coffee products in Colombia totaled 5.54 thousand people, up from 5.25 thousand employees reported a year earlier. This represents an increase of five percent.
Coffee is an important part of the Colombian manufacturing industry. This South American country is one of the largest producers in the world and the second-largest coffee producer in Latin America and the Caribbean. It has a coffee cultivated area of more than 840 thousand hectares, and the departmentns of Huila, Antoquia, Tolima, and Cauca accounting for about 55 percent of the total cultivation area. In 2022, there were 77 coffee manufacturing establishments in Colombia and payroll in the coffee production sector surpassed 150 billion Colombian pesos.
