Colombia: coffee import volume 2012-2023
In 2023, the volume of coffee imports into Colombia amounted to approximately 90.7 thousand metric tons, a decrease of about 36 percent compared to the previous year. That same year, the value of coffee imports reached over 250 million U.S. dollars. Among the leading countries of origin for coffee imports to the country were Brazil, Peru and Vietnam.
Colombia is one of the largest coffee producers in the world and the second-largest in Latin America. However, despite its large production, it exports over 90 percent of all its domestic coffee, which is why it relies on coffee imports to cover national demand. In 2023, it exported over ten million 60-kg bags of coffee.
In 2024, the total domestic consumption of coffee in Colombia is expected to reach over two million 60-kg bags, with roasted coffee accounting for over 70 percent.
