Mobile app usage in U.S. children: learning apps
While engaging with friends on social media and consuming online videos are the two most entertaining activities for kids in the United States as in the rest of the world, mobile apps can be practical and educational. Learning apps for children focus on an array of topics and specialties, such as language learning, math, and reading abilities. In 2022, two mobile apps for younger learners between two and eight years old, topped the ranking of the most downloaded learning apps in the U.S. Gamified learning app ABCmouse was downloaded over 2.77 million times, while Kiddopia generated more than 1.83 million downloads in the same year. On average, U.S. kids aged four and older spent 16 minutes per day on Kahoot!, an app that allows users to create and take quizzes, and around 12 minutes learning on the market-leader language app Duolingo.
