As of 2022, grid-connected distributed solar photovoltaic installations in Italy had a total cumulative capacity of around 16.7 gigawatts, while centralized systems had a capacity of approximately eight gigawatts. Distributed PV systems are building applied installations, while centralized systems are for instance ground-based or floating.
