Gender gap index in Costa Rica 2016-2023

In 2023, Costa Rica scored 0.79 in the gender gap index, which shows a gender gap of approximately 21 percent (women are 21 percent less likely than men to have equal opportunities). The overall gender gap score is an increase from the 0.78 reported in the previous year, which shows a slight improvement towards gender equality. Moreover, Costa Rica was the Latin American country with the second best gender gap index.
