In July 2024, the power generation from solar energy in China amounted to almost 36 terawatt-hours. Over the last three years, the monthly solar power production had increased substantially every year. Nationwide, the government invested in the development of solar farms to increase the countries energy independence. The result was that in some cities, the price of solar electricity was similar to electricity generated from coal.
